Warning about Shaykh Salek Bin Siddina the Mauritanian currently residing in San Francisco

This is a warning about Salek Bin Siddina the Mauritanian who says that the Messenger knows the Unseen, and that Allah gave him dominion over the earthly life and the Afterlife, and that he is dominant over both, doing as he wishes and controlling them as he wants without anyone preventing him from that in reality, and so he is their owner!

Among what our shaykh, Shaykh ^Abdullah Al-Harariyy - may Allah have vast mercy on him - taught us is to think well of the Muslims and to take the knowledge from its people, but if it becomes clear that they are not qualified, we abandon them and clarify the truth. Some of our shaykhs and students have thought well of Shaykh Salek Bin Siddina, though there has appeared from him in the past cases that conflict with the fundamentals of the Religion, but lately it reached us that there came from him this judgment which amounts to saying that that Allah gave the Prophet dominion over the earthly life and the Afterlife, and that he is dominant over both, doing as he wishes and controlling them as he wants without anyone preventing him from that in reality, and so he is their owner. This is explicit blasphemy and it reached us that he will not retract this misguidance.

We, the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects, the students of Shaykh ^Abdullah Al-Harrariyy, clear ourselves from the likes of these statements that oppose the Religion of Allah, and they fall under the “ghuluww (extremism)” that the Religion forbade. What we believe concerning this issue is famous about us and clearly stated in our books. Among them are these Sayings of Allah – exalted is He:

< Say (O Muhammad): “I do not say to you that I possess the Vaults of Allah, nor do I know the Unseen …” > (Surah Al-An^am 50)

< Say: “I do not possess for my self (the summoning of) benefit or (the repulsion of) harm except whatever (possession) Allah willed[1]. And had I known the unseen I would have accumulated a plenitude of the good and no evil would have touched me. I am not but a warner and a giver of glad tidings to a people who believe.” > (Surah Al-A^raf 188)

<Say (O Muhammad): “No one in heavens and earth knows the unseen, only Allah knows the unseen, and they do not know when they shall be resurrected.> (Surah An-Naml 65)

< He alone knows [all of] the Unforeseen, so He does not reveal [all of] His unforeseen matters to anyone. > (Surah Al-Jinn 26)

< And He has the keys to the Unseen[2]. >
(Surah Al-An^am 59)

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, as narrated by Ibn Hibban:

“Beware of extremism, for indeed, the extremism is what ruined the people before you.”

It is also verified that he ﷺ said:

“Do not elevate me over my (true) status.”

Whoever claims that the Messenger knows all that Allah knows has equated the Messenger to Allah and that is blasphemy. There is no difference between whoever says that the Messenger knows all that Allah knows as a giving to him from Allah - meaning that Allah granted him that - and whoever says that he knows all that Allah knows without that being gifted to him from Allah.

We ask Allah to keep us firm on the truth.

[1] By strengthening and supporting me.

[2] “The keys to the unseen” may refer to Allah’s vaults of torment and provision, or to what is unknown to the creations among reward, punishment, death times, and various circumstances. Saying that the unseen has keys is a metaphor. The significance of that metaphor is that a key is the tool by which one gains access to what is locked away. Whoever knows the keys of what is locked away and how to open those locks has access to it. So what is meant is that Allah alone is the One Who knows the unseen entirely and none of it is withheld from Him.

How to Become a Muslim

One becomes a Muslim by believing in the Two Testifications of Faith (referred to in Arabic as ash-Shahadatan) and uttering them with the intention of leaving out blasphemy.

I bear witness that no one deserves to be worshiped except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
