TIES - Houston, TX, USA

Welcome to T.I.E.S of Houston

T.I.E.S of Houston is a weekend Islamic school, established in September, 1995 by the board members of A.I.C.P Houston, Texas. It serves the different ethnic population in an effort to represent the entire Muslim community in Houston and its surrounding suburbs.

Vision

The primary visualization of our school is to meet the Islamic and Arabic educational needs of the Muslim children living within the Greater Houston Area. It is also to expand our boundaries to reach families living in the surrounding suburbs and cities.

We strive towards developing, in each student, a strong moral character, building on his/her individual self-confidence, discipline, independence, ethical standards, love of learning, sense of personal efficacy and responsibility within an Islamic context.

Mission

Our mission is to teach, nurture and instill in each student the principles of Islam through the submission to the Will of Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta^ala. We emphasize on the use of the Arabic language, spoken and written, in order to achieve a greater awareness of the Holy Qur'an and Hadith. Our religious program propagates the daily practice of Islam as a comprehensive way of life, following the teachings from the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, Salla Allahu ^alayhi wa sallam.

We, also, focus on assisting students meet or exceed grade-level expectations in both the Islamic and Arabic Programs.

High Standards

In order to accomplish high standards, we established school-wide goals and objectives. In fact, each member of our team is dedicated and aligned to them. Also, we have set up measures to ensure that we remain true to our goals and continue to monitor our performance and processes.

Our team is thoroughly trained via workshops and meetings to assist in implementing our vision and mission in lieu of interacting with each other, every student and students’ parents. Furthermore, we have resorted to the method of classroom observations and coaching to maintain focus and ensure effective curriculum implementation. Our program is designed and continues to be refined to achieve our well established mission and vision.

Our teachers are trusted to provide their classes with high-level instruction, challenging content, and high expectations for student performance. "At-risk" students, who are clearly in need of intervention in order to meet course expectations, will benefit from a school-based “Resource Center”. It is offered as an on-site support service targeting the students’ specific needs, which will prepare them to meet their grade level requirements.

Curriculum

Providing the knowledge pertaining to Islam and Islamic history.

Teaching the reading and writing of the Arabic Language.

Teaching Qur’an recitation through Tajweed and memorization.

Islamic perspective is integrated wherever possible in every subject.

Textbooks oftentimes will cover much of the knowledge we decide to offer children, but not all of that knowledge. Therefore, in addition to the textbooks, we also utilize references that teach the Arabic Language and Islamic religious concepts, practices and values.

Curriculum does not only include what we think ought to be taught, but also the concept and implementation of Tarbiya in an Islamic context. This includes the nurturing, caring, guiding, upbringing, and more.

Faculty

Our team consists of well- trained professionals and teachers who possess the passion for attaining distinction on the religious, personal and academic levels. They volunteer their time and sincere efforts to teach the Arabic language, Islamic studies and Quran recitation.
